According to the study of the organic market, the export of organic products from Ukraine in 2020 was 204 million US dollars.
In terms of value, export increased by 7.9%, though its volume decreased by 30% and amounted to 332 thousand tons, compared to 469 thousand tons in 2019.
The geography of the Ukrainian organic export has expanded and key importing countries changed a bit. The Netherlands still ranks first in import volumes. The US ranks second in volumes and first in value. In third place among the largest importers — Germany. Switzerland, which took third place in 2019, dropped to tenth place.
In general, in the previous years, the share of export to European countries amounted to more than 85%, but in 2020 decreased to 73%. At the same time, the share of export to North America (USA and Canada) increased to 24%.
Export to Asian countries is growing too, including China, Vietnam, India and Japan, and there were first deliveries of organic products to the Republic of Korea and Myanmar.
It will be recalled that according to the results of 2020, Ukraine took 4th place among the largest countries exporting organic products to the EU.
