Ukraine is preparing for BIOFACH 2024

On 13-16 February 2024, the largest international trade fair of organic products BIOFACH 2024 will be held in Nuremberg (Germany), covering the organic food, beverage and non-food sectors. 

This year, 38 Ukrainian companies will take part in the trade fair, and Ukraine will also be represented at the Congress. 

14 companies have been selected to participate in the National Pavilion of Ukraine, organised by the State Institution “Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office” as part of the national project Diia.Business:

  6. Dnipropetrovsk Food Company “Waiz” LLC  (Dnipropetrovsk region), products: baby food;
  7. Galeks-Agro PE/Organic Milk LLC  (Zhytomyr region), products: cereals, groats, flour, honey, dairy products; 
  8. Healthy Traditions LLC (Kyiv region), products: cereals, flour, coconut milk, dried berries, stone fruits, powdered drinks;
  9. Kolchanov Dmytro Sergiovych PEI (TM Meetty), (Poltava region), products: chocolate, cocoa tea;
  10. Nutsee LLC (TM Slow Walnuts), (Zakarpattia region), products: walnuts; 
  11. Organic Export LLC (TM Med Ukrainy), (Kyiv region), products: honey;

Meet the participants of the National Pavilion of Ukraine

Location of the National Pavilion of Ukraine at the fair: Hall 4A, Stand 511.   


The National Pavilion of Ukraine, organised with the support of the German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture Project (COA), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, in cooperation with the Innovative Farming and Cooperation NGO and the Ukrainian Berries Association, will feature 11 Ukrainian companies:

10 Ukrainian organic companies will be presented at the stand organised by the German Import Promotion Desk (IPD):

  9. Stodola LLC (Mykolaiv region), products: herbs, melons, vegetables, cabbage, elderberry, canned salads, tomato sauce;
  10. UkrBioLand ASC (Dnipropetrovsk region), products: cereals, legumes, oilseeds.

The German Import Promotion Desk (IPD) is an initiative of the Federation of German Wholesalers, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) and the development organisation sequa gGmbH, a partner of German business. IPD is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

  • Mr Oleksandr Gaydu, Chairman, Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament),
  • Ms Maryna Kyslytska, Head of the State Policy Division on Organic Production of the Food Security and Excise Products Directorate of the Department of State Policy on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, 
  • Ms Olha Semenchuk, Head of the Food and Feed Safety Division of the Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine Department, State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, 
  • Mr Andrii Lytvyn, Deputy Director, State Institution “Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office” (EEPO, Ukraine).

Objectives of the official policy delegation are the presentation of Ukraine at the international level, providing the international community with up-to-date information on the current situation in the organic sector in Ukraine and export opportunities of the Ukrainian organic producers during the war, participation in working meetings and building long-term partnerships with policy makers from other countries, international organisations and with organic stakeholders, promoting the export of the Ukrainian organic production, consideration of value chains of organic agricultural products for further development of the organic sector in Ukraine, participation in the National Pavilion of Ukraine at the international organic trade fair BIOFACH.

Swiss-Ukrainian Programs “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP) and “Organic Trade 4 Development in Eastern Europe” (OT4D), and the German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture Project (COA) organise and support the trip of the official delegation to BIOFACH 2024.


This year’s BIOFACH 2024 Congress will be held under the theme “Food for the Future: Women’s Impact on Sustainable Food Systems” and will be dedicated to the transformative power of women in the agri-food sector and their role in creating a more sustainable future for the organic food system.

10:00-11:00* – Official opening of the Ukrainian National Pavilion.

Introduction, welcome words from the organisers and partners of the Ukrainian Pavilions.

Representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian Parliament), organisers and partners of the National Pavilion, organic sector associations, Ukrainian organic exporters and other stakeholders will take part in the event.

11:45-13:00 – Latest facts, figures, and prospects of organic agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe

Markiyan Dmytrasevych, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, will provide an update information on the current state of the organic sector in Ukraine and the export opportunities for Ukrainian organic producers to the international community in times of war.

12:00-13:00 – Good practices for official investigations in case of presence of pesticide residues

EU Regulation No. 2018/848 on organic production and labelling of organic products has been in force for two years, and new rules for handling organic products in case of detection of pesticide residues are applied. After 2 years of working with the new rules and intensive sharing of experience, it is time to present good investigative practices to the sector.

In particular, during this session, Sergiy Galashevskyy, director of the Organic Standard certification body, will share the Ukrainian experience.

17:15-18:00 – Empowering Change: Women Leading Transformation in Central East Europe’s Organic Sector

Women are a driving force behind positive change in the organic sector in the CEE region. During the session, participants will share stories of success and positive change in the organic sector in Albania, Serbia and Ukraine.

In particular, during this session, Kateryna Shor, National Coordinator of the Program “Organic Trade for Development in Eastern Europe” (OT4D) and coordinator of OrganicInfo.ua, will speak about the achievements, problems and opportunities for the Ukrainian organic sector.

14 February

13:00-14:30 – Conference “At the front-line – women in Ukraine are changing the world”

Women leaders of the Ukrainian organic sector from business, industry and NGOs, policy and multi-stakeholder forums will present insights on achievements and challenges confronting the organic sector in Ukraine under the current conditions of war. Key themes of short inputs are innovations, higher added value products, legal issues and networking to create strong stakeholder platforms.

A video portraying Ukrainian women leaders will also be shown and the results of a gender study on the Ukrainian organic sector will be presented.
