Organic market development – Ukraine and world

Share the news

The organic market in Ukraine is developing steadily. Thanks to the country’s size, geographic location, proximity to potential international buyers and fertile soils, Ukraine has favorable conditions for organic agriculture.

We have prepared a compilation of news on organic market development in Ukraine and in the world:

The latest data on the organic market in Ukraine is provided in an article by Olga Trofimtseva, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for European Integration, and Natalie Prokopchuk, Project Manager of the Swiss-Ukrainian SECO-FiBL Project “Organic Market Development in Ukraine” (you are welcome to forward and reprint with a reference to the source).

In 2017 FOR THE FIRST TIME the Reform Support Team at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine collected operational monitoring data on the main indicators of organic agriculture from the certification bodies, which certified organic production and trade of organic products in Ukraine in accordance with the EU organic legislation. The data on organic operators and agricultural land (organic and in-conversion) are displayed on the Organic Map of Ukraine.

As the number of organic operators is growing the range of Ukrainian organic products is expanding.

Ukraine is in the TOP 20 countries in the world according to the organic agricultural land.
