Three years ago BrandStory in cooperation with Organic Standard certification body started a joint project aimed to promote organic products and brands in Ukraine.
Organic Brands in Ukraine is a “live” rating, which is formed on the basis of data on the production volumes and sales in the domestic market, their presence in retails chains, and brands activity in social media.
The most important thing for the development of the brand is, of course, the loyalty of consumers, which can be evaluated by the sales volume of the products of this brand. The main source of information for the evaluation at this stage was a study of the domestic market for organic food products.
According to Organic Standard, in 2022, the volume of product sales amounted to 6,280 tons, of which almost 54% is dairy products, 28% – vegetables, fruits and mushrooms, 12% – cereals, legumes and flour products.
The second important aspect is the availability of products in retail chains and their geographical coverage, as well as the demand for products of a particular brand. At this stage, not only the analysis of retail chains was carried out, but also customer feedback, and other factors indicating the brand’s distinctiveness from competitors.
At the last stage, BrandStory and Organic Standard experts conducted online monitoring of mass and social media in order to analyze their activity, content quality and interaction with the audience.
During the three years of this project’s implementation, Organic Milk and Danube Agrarian companies remain the undisputed market leaders and are also leaders in their product categories.
This year, Organic Original company (TM Ecorod) is the leader in the category of cereal, legumes and flour products and took 4th place in the overall rating.
In general, if to analyze all the years of the project, it can be noted that 6 companies remain in the TOP 10 organic brands, which indicates the stable development of both brands and the sector.
The project is implementing with the support of Switzerland within the Swiss-Ukrainian program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP), implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland) in partnership with SAFOSO AG (Switzerland).
