{"id":9759,"date":"2021-03-05T11:21:44","date_gmt":"2021-03-05T09:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/organicinfo.ua\/news\/3percent-under-organic-production-2030\/"},"modified":"2021-04-07T22:08:58","modified_gmt":"2021-04-07T19:08:58","slug":"3percent-under-organic-production-2030","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/organicinfo.ua\/en\/news\/3percent-under-organic-production-2030\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine aims to achieve 3% of land under organic production by 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On March 3, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmu.gov.ua\/npas\/pro-zatverdzhennya-nacionalnoyi-eko-a179\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved \u00abThe National Economic Strategy until 2030\u00bb<\/a>, which officially sets the goal for % of land under organic production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">According to the strategy, it is planned that the percentage of \u200b\u200blands with organic status should be at least 3% of the total area of \u200b\u200bagricultural lands in Ukraine, which is approximately 1.3 million hectares.&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be recalled that according to the operational monitoring data collected by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, as of December 31, 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/organicinfo.ua\/en\/infographics\/organic-map-of-ukraine-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">about 468 thousand hectares<\/a> (organic and under transitional period) are under organic production in Ukraine. So it is planned to increase the area under organic production<strong> three times during the next 10 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One more indicator of the strategy is to increase exports of organic products to 1 billion US dollars by 2030.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s quite an ambitious goal, given that in 2019 the export of organic products from Ukraine was <a href=\"https:\/\/organicinfo.ua\/en\/infographics\/eksport-ukrains-koi-orhanichnoi-produktsii-2019-rik-ohliad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">about 189 million US dollars<\/a>. So the government expects to increase organic exports 5 times during 10 years while increasing the area under organic production only 3 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve these goals, the following steps are suggested:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Support of organic production:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>implementation of support programs for producers of organic products<\/li><li>implementation of measures aimed at raising awareness of producers about the benefits of organic production<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Increasing the production of organic products:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>development of financial and advisory support programs for organic producers<\/li><li>attracting more producers to organic production by improving government regulations in this area<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Ensuring the development of sustainable production<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>promoting sustainable agricultural production, protecting the environment and animals, promotion of organic production methods and the use of biotechnology, \u00abclimate-smart\u00bb agriculture and forestry with reduced greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change, sustainable management of natural resources and saving and enhancement of biodiversity<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s been previously written about the goals for the development of organic production set in the first Voluntary National Review of the Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine.
