Ukraine now has a long-term data series that makes it possible to track changes in organic production, the domestic market and exports. This represents a decade of systematic monitoring of Ukraine\u2019s organic sector: the first comprehensive study covered data for 2016-2018, followed by annual studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Long-term data are particularly important for consistently tracking changes in the sector under different economic and social conditions. However, they do not allow for direct comparisons between individual years, as conditions varied considerably \u2013 from market development to the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war. In addition, not all indicators were available in the early years of monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2025, Ukraine\u2019s domestic organic market remained relatively stable. According to estimates, Ukrainian producers sold 8,707 tonnes of organic products on the domestic market, worth UAH 1.399 billion, or approximately USD 34 million based on the National Bank of Ukraine\u2019s average weighted exchange rate for 2025. These figures cover domestically produced organic products and exclude imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Compared with 2024, sales increased from 7,647 to 8,707 tonnes, while their value rose from USD 29 million to USD 34 million. At the same time, these figures should be interpreted with caution: changes in prices and inflation mean that an increase in the value of sales cannot be regarded as a direct indicator of higher consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For comparison, in 2021, before the full-scale war, 9,780 tonnes of organic products worth USD 33 million were sold on the domestic market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As in previous years, organic dairy products accounted for the largest share of domestic sales in 2025, at 5,131 tonnes. Milk accounted for the largest part of this category, at 3,669 tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next largest categories by sales volume were vegetables, fruits and mushrooms \u2013 2,200 tonnes, followed by cereals and cereal products, flour and seeds \u2013 862 tonnes. Among vegetables, fruits, berries and mushrooms, berries accounted for the largest volume, at 1,533 tonnes, with sales worth UAH 200 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The domestic market also includes organic eggs, oil, juices, beverages and canned products, as well as tea, coffee, nuts and honey. Thus, Ukraine\u2019s domestic organic market includes not only raw materials and basic food products, but also a broad range of processed products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2026, organic producers continue to operate amid the war, creating additional risks for production, storage and sales. Damage to production facilities and logistics infrastructure, supply disruptions and direct attacks on farms may affect both production volumes and the ability to supply products to the domestic market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, the 2025 results show that demand for organic products in Ukraine has persisted even under prolonged crisis conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
